I love (French) cheese

I love cheese. I look forward the cheese platter during the meal (honestly I am fond of desserts as well!).













Today is my birthday and I had one of my favorite cheese-based recipe for lunch: a raclette!



Check out the nice retro look of this raclette machine!






When it gets a lovely golden shade, it is ready to be served.

I love duck

 I love duck and one of my favourite ways to eat it is when it is dried.

 











We start by putting a duck breast on a bed of rock salt and cover it up for 48 hours.
 
Out of the salt, it is still vaguely moist and that's okay.
Season generously with pepper and fold in a kitchen towel. Leave in the fridge for 2-3 weeks before use.










After that time, the duck has dried and is ready to be sliced and savored!



One can also make it more fancy with mini-tarts of puff pastry.






















Add a layer of oignon chutney and three matches from a slice of duck breast.
Cook 15 minutes at 180°C (or until pastry is cooked).
















Et voilà!

My New Photo Challenge

I am starting a new photo challenge this month, here is my to-shoot list and my three first pictures. My previous one started here (blog) and all the pictures are there (flikr).

Day 1 - Up close

As my favorite breakfast cereals are not sold here and I can only enjoy porridge
for a limited amount of time, I have to improvise: today with banana bread!
