Fabric bins

Carrying on with the sewing machine, I made fabric bins based on the easy tutorial of this blog. The foxy fabric is from the French fabric store Mondial Tissu.
My interfacing is really stiff; I sewn it on the inside fabric so that I would not have to flip the inside out.

Soft book - textures

This cute fish has ribbons, buttons, plump felt belly, felt scales that you can lift up and fancy machine stitches on silky shimmery fabric.
Inspiration: this Etsy item.

This time I made 4 textures in a page:
- silky fabric with heavy interfacing
- buttons
- felted and un-felted wool
- cotton wool

I have combined 9 textures in one page, which my mum advises is overwhelming for a young one, so next time I will do with only 4 per page.
Inspiration: this page available from Etsy.
I have used the following materials:
- pom pom ribbon
- thick fur
- velvet ribbon
- satin ribbon
- acrylic wash cloth
- buttons
- towel fabric
- bicone beads
- thin leather

Soft book - baby

I have been getting hooked on soft book for kids. After browsing Pinterest for some inspiration, I have started with high contrast pages for newborn babies. They are rather simple, which is good as I will be able to learn sewing on the job!
I am using felt for the structure of the page, and more felt and fabric for the elements. I chose dimensions of 20 cm x 20 cm as it is a common size on Etsy if I want to complement my book.

Soft toys & mobile

Now that I have borrowed a sewing machine for a couple of weeks, I am starting to get the hang of it and I am making little soft toys recycling old socks and fabrics from worn out clothes or inherited leftovers.

Tutorial for sock dog: this blog page.
Tutorial for bunny socks from the Prima website.

Inspiration for the little monster: this screenshot on Pinterest.

I also made a mobile, inspired by this one available on Etsy. There are patterns available on the web, I took mine on this Spanish blog. I made the felt flowers pompom following this blog tutorial. I can't find the tutorial I use for the little ranunculus, but it's just rolling a spiral on itself.
